The project MoBaK (Modular Bathroom Kit) proposes to create, in real context, a new product / modular WC solution (bathroom pod), easily assemble and disassemble and adaptable to any space, responding to the current needs of the Rehabilitation and Do it yourself (DIY) market, globally. The project addresses the design of the WC solution, its technical development, prototyping, life cycle analysis and product validation.
Currently the traditional solutions available in the market that make it feasible to transform WC spaces, advocate the realization of deep, time-consuming works that require very specific skills in the area. This product that is being developed (highly industrialized) allows, in a space with certain requirements, it is possible to install a WC, in a short time, easily, without the need for major works.
This product is being studied and developed with the goal of being adaptable to most of the housing buildings of the XX century, containing the best standards of comfort, hygiene and sustainability.
It is concluded, therefore, that MoBaK privileges the industrialization, the compactness, the functionality and the sustainability of a solution that until today is only presented as a solution to be realized in construction.
The project is being carried out in a consortium by OLI – Sistemas Sanitários, SA (the leading company in Portugal in the manufacture of lavatories and accessories for sanitary ware), ITALBOX (reference company in the design and manufacture of bathroom partitions and guards) and University of Aveiro, with proven experience in the major areas of rehabilitation, water efficiency and sustainability.
